This magic ingredient will help prevent your potatoes from sprouting
The help you needed to keep the potatoes for longer is actually in your pantry
The potatoes waiting in any pantry tend to sprout, or produce germs after a painfully short amount of time. However, there is an easy pantry trick to keep them fresh longer so that one can enjoy the freshly bought potatoes for a few more days.
The trick is to keep them with none other than bay leaves! These fragrant leaves provide multiple benefits in the pantry, and most of them keep the produce fresh for longer.
How do bay leaves help keep produce fresh?
Bay leaves provide a non-chemical solution to keeping any bunch of potatoes germ free for longer, and keep things clean and fresh in the pantry. The leaves have essential oils that are germ repellent, hence once you place them in between the sack of potatoes, they do their job very well to keep germs at bay.
Once you have the bay leaves in, and the potatoes are in a dark, cool place, the germs attacking the potatoes will be delayed up to 10 days!
