“Too Good For The Bin” is an initiative started in Germany back in 2019. Since then there have been many “actions” to tackle the big problem of food waste like action weeks, mobile apps (like Too Good To Go), and local events. The aim is to halve food waste nationally both in retail and consumer atmospheres. Since around 12 million tons of food has been detected to be wasted in a year, there is much work to be done to reach the “Too Good For The Bin” goal.

This week marks the start of another annual action week, on the 29th of September.

No Food Waste Week of 2025

From September 29th to October 6th, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Homeland (BMLEH) and To Good For The Bin will be practicing the action week of 2025. The goal is to set societal examples on how to take action against food waste nationwide. In the website you can find a form to fill out with the action you have taken within this week for the publication the organizations will make.

In social media as well, consumers and action takers can follow the food saving action through the #DeutschlandRettetLebensmittel tag, and witness the communities across the nation participate.
